A Staycationers Guide to the UK

A Staycationers Guide to the UK

Whether you are drawn to quaint countryside retreats, bustling cityscapes or coastal family fun -  the UK has something for everyone.  Our guide will take you through some of the best places to stay and eat helping make this Staycation one to remember - and no horrid queues at airports either!

The Cotswolds

We love the Cotswolds - easy to get to from anywhere.  This stunning area is nestled in the heart of England.  Renowned for it's picture perfect villages, rolling hills and stunning scenery.  A place to explore and immerse in true "Britishness"

To Stay

We would stay at The Wild Rabbit - a stunning Grade II listed building constructed from Cotswold stone.  It is cosy yet contemporary with an incredible restaurant and rooms for all the family to enjoy.  Close to Daylesford and surrounded by many cultural and historical landmarks, this gorgeous spot is perfect for basing yourself to explore this heavenly part of the UK in style. https://thewildrabbit.co.uk/

To Eat

We would choose the wonderful, award winning Wild Thyme & Honey on the outskirts of Cirencester.  Offering incredible, seasonal food with their essence being from "farm to table" from only UK producers.  Something to celebrate and enjoy! https://www.wildthymeandhoney.co.uk/the-crown-pub

Cornwall

Dramatic coastlines, buzzing towns and an incredible cultural heritage.  The most southwestern tip of England offers some of the most stunning beaches in the UK such as Porthcurno and Fistral.  A stay in Cornwall is incomplete without delighting in fresh seafood, a Cornish Cream tea and,of course, the iconic Cornish pasty!

To Stay

We would love to stay in one of Rick Stein's Shepherd Huts!  The wooden huts offer peaceful countryside accommodation within reach of some of Cornwall's favourite restaurants, beaches and coastal walks. https://rickstein.com/accommodation/shepherds-huts/

To Eat

Overlooking the sea in St Ives the Ugly Butterfly Restaurant and Bar is a vision to behold with food equally exquisite.  Perfectly cooked, local food in a stunning location. https://www.uglybutterfly.co.uk/

The Lake District

The Lake District is a haven for nature lovers, adventure enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.  With its stunning landscapes, rich history and myriad activities, it is no wonder that the Lake District is one of the most beloved travel destinations in the UK

Lake Windermere on the beautiful Lake District in England

To Stay

We would choose to say in a an authentic cottage overlooking one of the lakes.  Cosy and secluded - a place to really get away from the hustle and bustle.  Mesmerising scenery, fresh air and wild, open spaces.  Heaven!  https://www.canopyandstars.co.uk/

To Eat

If you are in the Lakes - it has to be L'Enclume a truly incredible dining experience. As many ingredients and elements of the menu are sourced from "Our Farm" - which allows for all round growing methods allowing the restaurant to produce menus seasonally.  A rare treat indeed. https://www.lenclume.co.uk/dine

Wherever your travels take you this Summer - we wish you a wonderful and safe trip!
