Spring It On!
Winter has dragged on far too long this year and how ready are we to step out in spring clothes?
‘Transitional wardrobe' is a word that’s been bandied about for a while now. And with good reason; pieces that can be layered, that work with numerous top or bottom options but most importantly, that can be worn right now on a chilly February morning but equally so in April when the day starts with every indication that the sun will be shining by lunchtime.
Spring clothes - covering all bases
Staples that work over and over again are the winners. We search tirelessly to source spring clothes for women that work seamlessly with your everyday wardrobe. The chances are you want your wardrobe to cover all bases – effortless looks for every day that are functional and hard working, sprinkled with a few pieces which will stand out as chic in a formal setting. Plus, everything in between.
Women’s Spring clothes tend to include a selection of lighter and brighter colours. From Scandinavia, we have gentle hues mixed with soft reds and primrose yellows – a nod to the great outdoors that so strongly influences brands in those regions.
Selected Femme - Alfi Knit
Point in case, the pretty Alfi Knit from Selected Femme. A gorgeous cream in an interesting stitch, this mohair jumper will be perfect for the coming months.
Selected Femme - Lulu Cardigan
Equally so and from the same brand, the primrose yellow Lulu collection. Very feminine, this cardigan or jumper option, is sure to banish the winter blues and remind us that spring really is just a blink away.
The Part Two Pirjo Knit is a perfect spring wardrobe essential. Cosy for right now, a great layer when the days start cooler and useful in high summer too – think chilly sea breezes on a British beach.
Talking of beaches, let’s think nautical. Stripes work all year round but at no time more so than in spring. Pair a long sleeved stripey top with jeans or denim skirt for effortless coordination and ultimate layering.
Although short sleeved, don’t dismiss the Oui V Neck Knit. Worn with high waisted jeans and trainers and paired with a little Les Belles Vagabondes silk scarf, this nails a great spring look. A French chic vibe too perhaps?
Spring clothes for women guaranteed to lift the spirits always included a cheerful shirt. Long sleeved options work well under jackets or knits and can add a fabulous element of surprise.
Check out Spanish brand Vilagallo’s show stopping styles – which can be dressed down with jeans and trainers or up with heels.
And finally, accessories. These finishing touches are fundamental to getting spring clothing to work. Clever combining of a slightly lighter jacket (in both weight and hue) with a stunning scarf will ensure warmth and cosiness but still shout ‘Spring’.
Storiatipc’s Bella scarf pops with warm pinks, oranges and yellow and looks fabulous with denim whilst their Ambre scarf in cheery red is scattered with colour added by hand embroidered details.
The bag you carry makes quite an impact too. February may be too soon to bring out a basket, but a lighter toned handbag or tote is uplifting. We have our eyes firmly on the Loxwood Raffia camera bag!
